How To Make Cool Dinosaur T-shirts

I finally made t-shirts for my book. I have been working on this idea for a while but finally got to it. At first, I was just going to buy them, but I couldn’t find what I wanted. The main problems were if I wanted to buy the in bulk, I could only have one picture and I could either buy kids sizes or adult sizes. So I set out to make my own.

The first step was buying the heat transfer paper. There are several kinds, but I decided to go with Transourdream Tru-Heat transfer paper. One appealing thing about this paper was that I could use it with either Laser or inkjet printers. At the time, I wasn’t sure what printer I would use. This was also a low-cost version for my first batch of shirts.

The next step was to print. I used Canva to design my shirt. We have an upgraded account so that I could remove the background easily. Printing onto the HP Envy inkjet printer went smoothly.

I then cut the design with scissors and peeled off the backing paper. This was probably the most time-consuming part of the process, but it still took less than five minutes.

We bought an Easy Press from Cricut. I had made shirts with an iron before but found it too difficult to regulate the temperature. The time and temperature settings were listed on the transfer paper’s instructions.

The Easy Press lived up to its name. I think the shirts look great.

We only did five for this printing, but we will do more. Right now I am selling them for $15. Hit the contact button if you are interested!
